They are found between nodes in some angiospermes. They are a subgroup of primary meristems

Intercalary meristem have only in monocot like bamboo, orchid, pinaple, grass...ect
it is a kind of tissue will diferrent to vice-meristem or make the internode longer

think of them as the meristems in the middle for monocots. Apical meristems are at the root and shoot tip and are responsible for primary growth (increase in length). Lateral meristems are responsible for secondary growth (increase in girth) and are not commmonly found in grasses and annuals. Intercalary meristems mean you will have to cut the grass a few times this summer--unless of course you whack your grass off below the meristem... then you may have a different problem! They are all primary meristems though.

I don't agree with you this problem.
There 're one kind of meristem but it can primary or secondary meristem depend on where it come from. With root, you can induce to get meristem but it is not meristem
(meristem mean the tissue which are fastly separating to bud or node but not root top, so it just stay in the top and the middle)

sorry mothorc, I am not sure I understand where you disagree...meristems are regions where undifferentiated cells divide.

What cells make up the root cap?

the root cap is made of parenchyma cells, and the apical meristem is directly behind the cap.
