Thymine in spite of uracil.hii!
it was a question that my teacher put it in a exam: (it souds strange... anyway... related with the repairs' mechanisms of DNA, why thre´s Thymine in spite of uracil THKSS!
Re: Thymine in spite of uracil................
in DNA nucleotides: Adenine,Guanine,Cytosine,Thymine and in RNA also A,G,C but instead of thymine is uracil(U). Seems ok question to me if I understood u correctly. If pairing is wrong it should be corrected by repair mechanism. *My life is a theatre...playing-my destiny*
Uracil can be the product of Cytosine deamination, hence they can be spontaneously formed, and produce mutation. But glycosylase are enzymes which are specially designed to repair this kind of mismatch. HTH Patrick

HTH Patrick[/quote] thks for the answer!
Hey..btw, have you heard about strange unusual nitrogenous base name Hydroxymethylcytosine?? I think that N.base located in the bacteria chromosome..
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
