motor neuron experiment?

Good evening,
I need to devise an experiment to look at neural properties and the effects on different target muscles they innervate. Are there any specific techniques dedicated to neural properties I could use? I am only familiar with the theoretical differentiation and specification of neurons, but as far as procedures go, I dont have enough experience yet to plan these concise experiments. Could I focus my efforts on muscle responses, or look at an individual neural property? Thanks once again!
