Brains

Postby MattVonFat on Tue Oct 10, 2006 11:34 pm

Hi,

I want to learn more about brains. In particular I want to know more about how animals learn and what sort of things are already programmed into the brain.

Coul;d anyone suggest things I should be searching for? I'm completely at a loss with my best idea so far being to search for 'brain' which didn't seem to help me much :)

Thanks for any help you can give me,
Matthew

You should go on and read a psychology manual.

Specifically the psychophysiology subdivision. There you're able to learn about brain divisions and its functions.

About learning, you should go there and look for Learning and Memory subdivision. You'll get information about learning types and factors as intelligence, motivation.

As for a start and willing to feed your motivation, here it goes the 3 learning types:
 Classic Conditioning http://www.as.wvu.edu/~sbb/comm221/chapters/pavlov.htm

It's all about the famous Pavlov and the ringing bell. First you get food and you dog salivates. By presenting the food and the ring of the bell together you get the salivation again. Then, you may only ring the bell and the dog will salivate.

 Operant Conditioning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_conditioning

It's all about the action effect. If you get a good result you'll tend to repeat the action. If the final result is not that good it will not tend to repeat.
