Effective for the animals in the river

if the sailinity of a river is increasing or decreasing, so is it a effective for the animals in that river?
If yes, what effective example can you give me?
and is there any way for chage this happening?

i tbhink the question was posed as if one river was changing salinity.
about the answer: depends on the fish. some fish, like genus Salmo can withstand incredible changes of salinity.
