Metaphase Stages and the Equatorial Region

Postby bio101student » Wed Jul 12, 2006 3:10 pm

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm preparing to graduate, my major is Public Adminstration with an emphasis in Public Policy. Biology is required for graduation. I'm taking a weekend class and the professor speaks poor English and does not respond to e-mails during the week. I don't understand one of his study questions and can't locate the answer anywhere in the text or online. Actually, I'm using a 20-year old textbook. Please help me to understand. The question is.

We know that during metaphase stages of cell division chromosomes lined up at the equatrial region. Why in the supplied mitotic metaphase and chromosomes do not appear at the equatorial plate?

Thank you in advance for assistance.

Regards,

Nehka

Hmm... i'm not sure if I understand this part of your question: "Why in the supplied mitotic metaphase and chromosomes do not appear at the equatorial plate? "

Could you please re-phrase it?

in the mean-time check here ... maybe you can find an answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaphase
