What type of creature is this?Hello and thank you for reading my first post.
Im wondering what type of creature is in my septic system, ive never seen one before and I have absolutly no idea as to what classifacation they are. please excuze me but im not very familiar with sceintific names and the like. I have taken a picture of two of them together. hopefully soembody can tell me what they are.
Oh and i also forgot to mention that they seem to bunch up in clumps of atleast 30. they also seem to reprouduce extremely fast, in one day they went from about 10-20 to over 50.
thanks again
How big are they? Is that picture life size or magnified?

Thanks for replying.
There about an inch and a quarter fully extended (with tale). the tank there in is about 3x3 feet. Is a Fly without wings called a walk????
sorry, can't think of anything. They look like some kind of worm, but there are no worms that i know of with tails. Deffinetly invertebrates.
They look like some giant flagelates... "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I want to understand the universe and answer the big questions, that is what keeps me going" - Stephen Hawking
Thanks again for the reply.
Whats a flagelate, sorry im not very good with scientific names I can get some more pictures if the would help. Is a Fly without wings called a walk????
If anybody else has some input i'd love to hear it. thanks to everybody and please reply soon because i'm supposed to write a report on them and i have absoulutly no idea of what they are other than what mr.mistery has already helpfully provided.

flagelate is an organism with a tail on it.the tail is usually long unlike cilia which are very small appendages on the surface of some organisms even in our trachea.
They look like flagellate bacteria... but no bacteria get to be 1.5 inches long... Maybe they're some kind of larvae? Could you post another picture please?
Upon closer examination, it looks like they could be a type of worm hatching out of an egg-casing? Perhaps cnidaria...? except your sewer's not saline (probably) What did the parasitic Candiru fish say when it finally found a host? - - "Urethra!!"
I'd be happy to get more pictures, and i figured out what was wrong with my camera so they should be better.
I don't think the're larva because they seemed to reprouduce.either that or a bunch of eggs hatched Is a Fly without wings called a walk????
Ok i just got some more photos, and a couple more details. They all seem to be differen't sizes ranging from 3 quarter inch to 2 inch including tale.
I also noticed that they seem to jet up to the surface to get air or something else.

Thats strange, it only seemed to post one picture out of two.
ill add the other on now.
