Stomach bloating and weight gainModerator: BioTeam Hi,
I also have blotting problems. One Doctors said I have GERD, and a Hernia. I take the medications for the condition but they don't help. Now it's so bad that I have stopped eating. For the last two day I have only eaten two bowls of white rice. I drink lots of water and I take a multy vitamin. I'm going for a ultrasound of the Abdomen and Pelvis tomorrow. Different Doctor different test. I'll see what he finds, if anything. So far I haven't lost any weight. But I do drink a lot of diet tea. Thanks for the tip about the Splenda, I used Equal, but not any more. Hope you all feel better soon.
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainHI EVERYONE;
Have great news!!! I had seen this site almost a year ago, i had the same problems most of u have. You dont' know how many times people ask me if im pregnant, truth is i've never had a child. Anyways i'm 29. For about 5 years i have had severe bloatingm costipations, random diareah, during the last 2 years it seems to have gotten worst. Got to the point that i was waking up at night with horrible pain in my stomach. my doc had done ultrasounds and a bunch of test with no conclusion, would prescribe antacids and fiber and so on. also my Breath had become horrible to deal with, very bad bitter taste in my mouth int he morning. I had pains on the top part of my stomach and almost like a painful hunger but when i would eat i was extremely bloated. Anyways i made an appointment to a Gastroenterologist i had done alot of research online and i asked him to pelase check for any type of worms or bacteria that can be in my stomach, he agreed next day he called. i was positive for H.Pylori which is a horrible bacteria that causes swellign in the stomach lining and ulcers. I began a 14 day medication called PrevPac and it's 3 diff types of antibiotics. OK starting on the 3rd day OMG the difference is amazing, no more pain in my stomach, my breath is compeltely changed, i am wayyyy less bloated and i feel great. I even have Keratosis pilaris which is liek a bunch of tiny pimples behing the arm and leg, i had also done lots of research ont hat and thought i just coudln't do anything about. Well i checked my arms and they are sooooo diff clearing up. Vanessa
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainHi All - I was so relieved to find this site and others who have had the same problem. I have had bloating on and off for the last 14 years. I have had ultrasound and food allergy tests to no avail. Years ago I went to a chiropractor/kinesiologist for help with arthritis. He diagnosed my sugar and yeast levels were very high and after 3 months had not decreased so he put me on the following diet. A result of this diet not only helped the arthritis but I noticed I did not have any bloating. Foods I was NOT allowed were : NO white flour products (bread, pasta) anything made with white flour, no white rice, NO sugar at all - no cakes, biscuits (cookies) chocolate (my altime favourite!). Also NO Potato, sweet potato or cauliflower. NO Alcohol, NO coffee (only decafinated) and herbal tea PLUS 8 glasses of water a day (huge struggle with that one !) If in doubt, don't eat it. After withdrawal headaches for a couple of days - HUGE improvement. After 12 months I was allowed to reintroduce elimination foods in small doses. However, I have now put myself back on this diet as I had been sympton free for months and overindulged recently - result BLOATING where I could not go out to a friend's birthday party. It seemed such a drastic diet, however you do get used to not having the elimination foods. I was allowed dairy, fruit, fish, meat (red meat at least 3 times p.week) vegetables as much as I liked. I find anything made with corn is OK. I have curries without the rice. Breakfast is either fruit and yoghurt or corn thins (a corn type biscuit) with melted cheese. I have salads for lunch and fruit or nuts, inbetween for snacks. Hope this helps somebody out there. Cheers
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainWow guys that's terrible. Gastrointestinal problems can really turn your world upside down, especially when no one can give you a valid explanation. Some people have many intolerances and/or allergies to foods. I had gluten intolerance, otherwise known, as Celiac Disease, for 3 years before I self-diagnosed myself for the lack of a better term. Confirmatory tests were run and validated what I thought, diagnosis: Celiac Disease. I am a skinny guy and I lost 20lbs, had gastrointestinal symptoms constantly including bloating, gas, constipation/diarrhea, cramping. I lost the weight simply because I could not stand to eat as much as often as what you would normally. During this time, I had numerous physical injuries in sports some of which would not heal. I was a recreational runner and my feet and legs began to hurt immensely. At one point, my ankles were the size of softballs and hurt-like hell. I could hardly walk and even then I was in intense pain. A fractured foot put a permanent end to the running, which had become a nightmare anyway. Eventually, after seeing different doctors about my feet and leg pain/swelling. An internal medicine doctor had the insight to order a bone densitometry scan. The diagnosis: severe osteoporesis; the bone density of an 80 year old man in someone only 22. However, taking fosamax, doing aquajogging (the equivalent of water running) and using a electrostimulator daily on my feet/legs, I have gotten to the point where I can function normally after 3 years. However, I still have to avoid stairs, no jumping, running or anything else crazy. But, the fact that I can stand for extended periods of time is nothing short of amazing. So, the reason I tell my story, even if the symptoms and circumstances are different, is to offer you guys hope that some day you to will resolve your current situation. Don't lose hope press on and you know yourself better than anyone else. If something obviously is not right-then its not right regardless of what some doctor or quack may tell you.
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainThis post is mainly in relation to Naybelline. I experience bloating throughout the day especially after food and in the evenings. The pain varies from a constant ache to sharp pains mainly concentrated on either side. There are also other issues regarding bowel movements. I have had a scan and it has shown that I have cysts (poloycystic ovaries have been ruled out) I am currently waiting for an op to diagnose/treat Endometriosis. The specialists which I have spoken to and with the research I have done leads me to thinking this may be the cause. It may not be but thought it was worth a mention as Endometriosis, often before conformation, is often thought to be something like I.B.S! Hope you get it resolved!!
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainI have had several problems for the past 5 years and have not been able to get a diagnosis or basically any relief. I went to a gastro Dr. complaining of constipation,
I have recently been put on Perdium and charcoalCharcoal Charcoal plus ds pills. Just this past month I have had a colonoscopy and multivitamin/mineral Nothing has been found with the exception of cysts on the right ovary. The ovaries worried me so I did have the CA-125 blood test and it came back negative. The constipation have somewhat been relieved but I still have this huge bloated abdomen that starts at my belly button down to my pelvic bone. I have been complaining for the last 5 years about the severe abdomen pain, constipation and gas. It has been so bad at times that I have had to unbottom by skirt/pants. At one time I measured in the am and directly after lunch and on a mild day my ab grew 3 inches and that was on a "good" day. My problems usually occur directly after lunch. I usually eat salads, soups, chicken. No burger and fries or heavily seasoned or spicy foods. I have had several worse days. I have tried to self diagnose myself with celiac sprue as well as Candida and have followed a desperate diet of carb elimination. I was successful for a while and then all symptoms came back. 1 1/2 year ago I had several tests done including thyroid, flexible sygmoidoscopy, berium enema, upper GI, cat scan, and ultra sound. NOTHING! Not only does this control my life at times (5 out of 7 days) but I follow a strict exercise program and most people would not even think I do a situp. I seem to hold onto 20 some extra pounds in the last few years. I work out 5 days a week for 1 1/2 hours every morning consisting of running 20 minutes, alternating 45 minute classes of biking and weight training. Plus walk 3 miles every night after work. My pain is not located strictly on the right side which is the question I am always asked. I would say it is usually on the left and when pressed above my belly button besides the cramping and sharp pains in the lower ab when the bloating begins. What is my next step. I am desperate and am contemplating on going to the emergency room the next time it is severe. Last edited by canalon on Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:04 pm, edited 1 time in total.
