brain generating electricity ?

Postby svensl on Tue Mar 07, 2006 4:35 pm

Hello all,

I am interested in whether it is possible to generate electricity within the brain using two metal strips along with the electrolyte. Well, I am sure it is possible, but how much voltage would it produce? Does anyone have any ideas and can cite any reference that treats this topic.

Thanks,
svensl

Well, electric activity of the brain, measured using an electroencephalogram(EEG),measures between 20 and 100 microvolts after amplication on the order of 10 thousand times. The signal is so small/weak that interference from a signal produced by the blink of an eye will affect it!
I think if you checked internet sources on the EEG get some important information or at least a lead.

Hey think that an EEG is dealing with brain inside the skull. Real brain actvity is in the order of millivolts when you do not have to detect brain activity through bone insulator... But I would not like to have my brain wired to produce electricty anyway. what a weird idea...

hey, this is interesting
is it possible that this can be used to power electronic gadget?

looks like the Matrix movie fan club out here
if i remember correctly in the movie humans were used to generate electricity

Probably power a few electrnic devices (watch etc.) but noway I would accept to have my brain wired anyway, to dangerous. And the rest of the body could also be wired, with less risks of damage. But there are other way to power objects with a body (for example by using the kinetic enrgy during walk etc)
