need identification of insect/parasitewhat insect is black and is sharply tapered at both ends and can only be seen with a magnifying glass? I have found them on myself and on my dog. I have been searching the internet and books, and can't find anything like it. I do not know how to attach a picture here. But I have a scetch if I can somehow get it to someone to ID.
I would greatly appreciate any help Respectfully, Linn "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these".

thankyou
I have tried I think it has something to do with AOL I have had trouble with posting and file transfers and even pasting Time to change. Personal e-mail would work but I understand people are afraid of attachments containing a virus. Until that time I am going to keep looking. I am going back to the CDC and find a similar looking critter. In the mean time, Does anyone have any idea at all from my description? If I find I will post a link. Yea!
with the help of my daughter I have posted the scetch. I think was not suposed to start a new topic though. Sorry Moderators. No wings and no antennae. I was trying to get a specimen when someone walked in to the room and I looked up for only a second, when I looked back down it was gone. So this is the best I can do from memory. Leech-like is my best guess, Have not seen it again. I will probly find more this spring. It has me baffled. black bugHi Linn!!
If it looks like what I used to get off me, it looks just like collembola. I remember the first time that I realized that gross looking bug came off of me, I almost fainted. Then I saw pictures of them on different web sites and knew what it was. It was so surreal because all of the info on collembola at that time, about 6 months ago, said that they were an ancient insect, usually found in dark damp places. There was nothing that indicated they were harmful to humans, let alone HUMAN PARASITES!!! So, I thought I was the only one, in the whole world, that had these horrible bugs chewing on me!!!! That is - until I started reading the posts here and on LB. I am so grateful for these forums!!!! Linn - so glad to hear from you!!!!! I will answer your PM a little later - Take care- Befour
