Cooking vegetables

Postby hurly on Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:05 am

Are we supposed to cook broccoli?
I mean, won't it loose some of the nutritions?

Can you guys tell me what vegetables you should cook and which one you should just wash with water and eat?`
I only know that you have to cook the potates in order to make the starch eatble for us (it heats the starch and so that our body can decompose it and gain nutrition).

I haven't heard about potato this way, I mean the logical reason for cooking is because some taste better after cooking.
Are we supposed to cook broccoli? Why? I sometimes eat it uncooked.

"No other animal cooks its food."
So why don't you eat fish and meat raw?

I guess one reason for cooking is to kill of all (or almost all) bacteria.

Almost all is better to say. To kill every bacteria you would have to put your potato in an autoclavation(translation??!) machine at 120 degrees for 10 minutes

Don't boil but just steam. Veggies will be still fresh, less microorganisms, and their vitamins will not lose ;)
