Stem Cell Question

I am a freshman at my highschool and for my advanced english class I am currently writing a controversial issue essay on this topic. I need to know the pros of stem cell research, my strongest point on researching stem cells is that it has the potential to find cures, but other than that I got some pros that I can't really find info to prove them. One is to "Gain scientific knowlodge of embryonic development", and the other is "New methods of drug testing" both I couldn't find info on google, so now I am desperate and I am asking you guys (the experts) about the pros of stem cell research, since this essay is due Monday (yes I know procrastination ) I would appreaciate it if I get replies as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

Well I did and I only found a topic that was asking to compare embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells which is a little off of my question. Perhaps the only real pro to stemcell research is to find cures.
