Lipid and carbohydrate

Can anyone tell me why lipid is a better source of energy than carbohydrate?

lipid is highly deoxidized compound that contains much more energy than carbohydrate and organisms dont have to take too much hydration water for storing it.

More C-C bonds in lipids.

Combustion of carbon compounds leads to the creation of energy, or ATP, NADH2, and heat. Or something along those lines. Anyway lipids are mainly just long carbon chains with attached hydrogen atoms.

yeah but lipid is easier for storage.and what is of more importance is the heat of combustion released by lipid is 37kJ(9 kcal) per gram and relersed by carbohydrate is only 17kJ(4 kcal)/g.

in addition,lipid can be used for heat-preservation and it is cushion sometimes...

I still don't understand why lipid is a better source of energy because it is richer in carbon and hydrogen that carbohydrate. I am a-level student, and I don't really get how ATP is made...

ATP is made during cell respiration, a very complex mechanism. I'm afraid there is no real way to explain it other the chemical explanation.

How to made ATP? it's easy...
just attach three groups of Phospate group and nitrogenouse base [adenine] into a ribose... :lol:

How to product ATP...it's a complex and many mechanisms..just like Mr.Cheese said..

in my text book it says that ATP is the current 'coins' of energy in a cell.
