No...no..no..no...not evaporate the saliva (saliva is expnsive you know.. :lol: ) but reabsorb to maintain the fluid level inside the cells..
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.

OOOOOOOOO... I get it now 8) It seemed strange...
Well, everything in our body is either modulated by nervous system or hormones...

saliva contains ptyalin an enzyme which breaks down starch into maltose
in the buccal cavity { in simple terms the mouth }
so actually carbohydrate or starch digestion begins in the mouth itself.
actually all these health drinks containing glucose actually give us energy because of this
as they r already ready to be absorbed they get absorbed in the mouth itself and r taken into the bloodstream via blood vessels

Yup, you're right Andrew...hormone and nervous system are 1 level below the master...
no need to sorry, just watch the previous topic before posting... :D

Oh by the way victor. I was thinking today about this post, only to realise the obvious. Angiotencyn II(the active form of the hormone) is one of the main stimulaters of the secretion of aldosteron. And, as we know(or should know :D ) aldosteron reduces the secretions of salivary glands, sweat glands etc by absorbin NaCl, and as a consequence, water. So, maybe this is how angiotencyn "reabsorbes" the saliva :wink:
