Chemoautotrophs

Hi guys!

A couple of questions. I've done a Google search but I didn't come up with much.

1. What are chemoautotrophs?

2. What 'fuels' chemoautotrophs?

3. Are chemoautotrophs important in Biology? Why?

I'd be really grateful if anyone could give me some ideas.

I'm just gonna do a super summary because i am lazy.
1. Organisms that produce energy by chemosynthesis, oxidation of mineral(rarely organic) substances
2. The energy source for chemosynthesis comes from the oxidation rection of the mineral substance, not the substance itself.
3. Play an essential role in nature, by completing the circuits of many elements in nature(C,N,S). Nitrifying bacteria geive plants the N nutrients they need

Please, try to search yourself. I can bet you 10000 to 1 you can find this stuff in 2 minutes tops on Google

P.S. I did try to search for it myself but the information I found from Google didn't really answer my questions. My biology teacher was telling us that Google used to be a really good accurate search engine, but now you get lots of useless stuff when you search.

It's how you ask. Now I don't mean you have say please and try to coax the answer but you have to think like a search engine....what are the keywords that really define what you want to look for, are you looking for a specific phrase etc... You'd be surprise by the number of people who get confused and just go to askjeeves
