Freedom wrote:I really enjoy Biology and Chemistry at school and am applying for universities this year so I need to decide what degree I will take, I was considering microbiology or molecular biology but from what I have read and heard from teachers and conferences, those gradutes with degrees in Chemistry and Physics seem to do better and get higher pay and more likely to get good enployment than those with degrees in the Biological sciences. Although I do take physics and really enjoy it I would never take it at degree level so it's either Biology or chemistry, should I perhaps take Biochemistry or just pure chemistry. I've considered doing an MChem degree in Chemistry with Biochemistry which is a full blown chemistry degree but you get to do some extra biological work during it.

Any info or advice on which science is best would be fantastic, remember I love both Biology and Chemistry so don't say 'do the one you enjoy most' because I love them both.

Thank you in advance. :)

Freedom :) :)

do what u enjoy most, it frustrates me that ppl go to universities because they want a good job =( noooonononooooo, u go to university because u want to learn!!!

100% AGREED!

That's a common problem of fresh-graduated high schooler in my country. They think they are wise enough, they choose faculty and university due to the future chance. No, future chance depends on the individual. Learn well in your favorite place, support by your interest, ability and talent, I am sure you will be successfull in the future :wink:

Yup, totally agree...hey, by the way, I've found the physic pattern that said high education can't determine your money... :lol:
Just make the symbol like this...
P = Power
t = time
K = knowledge
m = money

we know that: P = W / t
Students say that 'knowledge is power' so... P=K
and we always hear that' time is money' so... t=m
if we remake the pattern it will be: K = W / m
With the remake pattern, we see that 'knowledge' and 'money' compared upside-down.... :lol:

I dunno what is it called, but in Indonesia we call it 'usaha' with the 'joule' word in the back. Ow, my english is so bad...
Example: W = 340 Joule..
Oh, in that formula, just consider that W is constant. :lol:

haha - sometimes the truth just hurts -most people who do well usually aren't very well liked by most people around >> but this also depends on their attitude towards things i guess :X

That is not true. Just beacuse you study a lot at home does not mean you need to be considered a geek at school. I always feared of that. But later i found out hat studying does not necessarily mean being considered a geek. I spend almost every drop of free time i have reading biology books, but i still get invited to all the top parties(though i don't go at all of them). It's all in your attitude toward life. Don't let the books run you, you run them. Don't cross the line between passion and obsession. Have friends, do sports, go out and have fun once in a while, and i guarantee you will find it easier to study...
That's my opinion anyway...
