Maybe it's just like you got multitype AIDS... :P But still, from it's name..this dissease attack our antibody which is Lymphocytes (B and T)
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?

The symptoms do resemble those of AIDS, but it is not caused by a virus like AIDS, it is the result of the mutation of the gene that directs the synthesis of the protein called adenindesaminase(ADA), an enzyme essential to the functioning of the T limphocytes. Children that inherit this genetic disorder have no option but to completely isolate themselves from the outside world(they are called buble children). There even was a movie on such a case called "Bubble boy"
This desease is famous because a doctor named W French Anderson made the first succesful case of gene therapy on it, on a 4 year-old girl.(september 1st, 1990 if i remember right).

I think, beside Lymphocytes, our body also have a secondary antibody immune system isn't it? they're called globulins...their function are as antibody right? how about them? are they degenerated also because of that mutation?
