Lentivirus vector propagation

Postby roniadam » Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:11 am

Hi

I bought a lentivirus vector containing alpha globin gene and I want to grow this vector. In what bug I should propagate it?

i'm an yeast person, so I am totally out of my element, but I would just look at what species that virus species normally infects and then start from there.

Did the cell (line) in which the virus is effective not come with your virus? That should be basic customer support. I am sure that you are just a phone call (to whoever sold you the lentivirus) to know which cells to use. And by the way lentivirus AFAIK will be used in eukaryotic cell lines, not bacteria.

yeah, definitely, probably a cell line from some mammal... I think HIV is a member of the lentiviridae

Yes it is. It is also used as a vector in some case. But this is a large family, hence my answer.
