Has anyone used the ChemSketch program to build molecules?

Postby MashkaBio » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:38 pm

Hello everyone, I'm new. I'm using ChemSketch for a lab. I'm trying to build Hydroxyl, so I found the Hydrogen atom, put it on the page, then found the Oxygen atom and put it close to the Hydrogen atom....but I cant find where the covalent bond button is to connect the atoms and make it into Hydroxyl.

read the manual for the program? I use a similar program on pubchem, you just use the tool that looks like a line.

In case any one is still looking for a response to this post, Chemsketch automatically creates covalent bonds between elements. If you want to make hydroxide, make water by clicking on oxygen. Then select hydrogen and mousedown on the hydrogen and drag the cursor. You should see a bond being created. Then use the charge tools to increase charge on the oxygen by slecting the minus button and then clicking on oxygen.
