I am taking A & P one of my homework questions is:

In terms of filtrartion, define selevtivity

What would happen to the filtration rate if you were to apply pressure to the filtration system?

What might happen to filtration if the water pressure damaged the membrane?

How might this relate to high blood pressure and kidney disease?

Most of the answers are really basic definitions that you should be able to research by yourself(#1) or require the application of 1 neurone for a whole 2 or 3 seconds to the problem (#2 and 3). To help you visualize a filter put at 1 end of a syringe. #2 what happens if you press on the plunger harder? and #3 what happens if you poke a hole in the filter?

Now read about the role of the kidney and how it works and relate that to #2 and #3.
