genes proteinsare protein genes? are transcription factor genes?
Re: genes proteinsso why does whole genome duplication or gene duplication lead to transcription factor duplication?
In the duplicated genome are duplicated not only structural genes but also genes coding transcription factors. In the case of genes duplication, whese genes can activate transcription of transcription factors whose regulate their own transcription.
so a the number of duplicate genes in say yeast == the number of duplicate transcription factors in yeast? Do proteins die off, genes code for proteins, but it seems that the transcription process repeats itself producing multiple copies of the same protein.
Transcription rate can remain the same, but if you have double the genes you should have double the proteins. Theoretically. Practically, if you have double the genes you'll usually have a dead cell...
