Preserving flower

Postby tommilak on Thu Jun 19, 2008 4:26 pm

Hi.
I have a very strange question for you all. Maybe you could help me with it.
In my home, I am growing a rare catus and its about to bloom. Its blossom is very big and smells very good. And I was wondering that maybe I could preserve it by putting it into transparent gel candle. Then it should get any air and should start drying or rotting. I hope you understand what I mean...
P.S. Sorry my English isn't very good.

Are you preserving the smell or the flower structure?

Flower structure.
But would the gel candle hurt the flower someway, because its a bit hot? But no that hot as normal wax candle.

It sounds like it might work, but I would think all bets are off once the wax burned down and exposed the flower.
Also candle wax is pretty opaque, might not show off your prized flower as you like. Best bet is a 8 by 10 glossy :)
