Thoughts on high school dissection

At my high school I have learned I am dissecting a frog today. I am fine with that, however I learned this is to prepare me for next years kitten dissection. I feel that a kitten dissection is pretty extreme. What are the rules on dissection?

I did a cat dissection too. Seems like a pretty common procedure.
