Transformation Plasmid DNA/Bacterial Chromosome

In transformation does plasmid DNA become part of the bacterial chomosome?
From my book I've gotten this answer: "The plasmid's origin of replication enables it to replicate in the bacterial cell independently of the bacterial chromosome..." so to me this sounds like the answer would be no that it is separate. Also the fact that is easily separated from the host DNA would also support this answer... right?
I dont know, everything I've learned is getting jumbled in my brain!
We are currently doing an experiment where we are demonstrating Griffiths discovery with transformation and we are using E. Coli strains uptaking antibiotic resistant plasmids. (I'm sure that many of you have done this experiment before..) If more information is needed please let me know! Thank you in advance for any help!
