sense and antisense

Hi there,

soo say I have mRNA with a polyA tail, I turn that into cDNA...is the newly made cDNA the sense or antisense strand?...man I have found definitions (inc. this site) of the meaning of these 2 strands but still find it soo confusing...my answer to my question (sum1 pllllease correct me if I'm wrong) is that because the mRNA can be translated into protein it therefore makes it the sense strand, the cDNA is now the antisense strand because that sequence of DNA does not code for the protein, however once the 1st cDNA produces a 2nd strand of cDNA the 2nd strand of cDNA will be the sense one (beause that now is the same sequence as the original mRNA (except with the U's and T's replaced)

Am I making sense?

That does sort of make sense - not that you could "make sense" out of your new DNA without some of the other gene-expression machinery...
