I am not a native speaker of English, so for somebody my question may look strange. In the phrase:

'fixed single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) panel'

what exactly is fixed? The panel? the polymorphism?
why is it fixed? Is there an explanation or synonym?

'fixed single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) panel' is basically customized microarray. Single stranded DNA (SNP) is bound to the platform (fixed). Panel refers to the selection of mutant genes to be tested. Single nucleotide polymorphism refers to alleles of the same gene that differ in a single nucleotide. More common allele is usually considered wild type (WT) and uncommon one - SNP.
