pls help me in my genetics subject!!!how can I produce a white eye fruit fly with other kind of fruit fly, like red and black fruit fly?[/b]
I'm definitely not an expert at this..by any means...but I may know the answer.
white eyes in fruit flies are recessive, right...so the only way an offspring can result in white eyes, is if the parent is a carrier for white eye color. A homozygous white eyed fly and a heterozygous red/black fruit fly will have 3/4 red/black eyed offspring and 1/4 white eyed offspring. If this is not right I'm truly sorry and hopefully someone else can help you out
