Exams, exams, exams. Exams are the stupidest thing in contemporary education systems. If I were a professor and it was up to me, I would look at students at seminars and if I see them interested i would give them diplomas. You can always tell...

to test plant function you could do something like:
- an iodine test for starch production: put both plants in the dark for a few days. put them in the light and test their leaves every few hours to see how quickly they produce their starch.
