Why isn't injection given into artery rather than vein? Why isn't injection given into artery rather than vein? I know vein carries the blood back to the heart, where heart will pump it again. But blood in the artery also have sufficient pressure to distribute the liquid drug inserted through the action of injection.
There are 2 reasons for this :
1) the artery is highly sensative as it is supplied by vasa vasorum branches from nerves ,so when you inject someone in artery he will yell and cry from pain. 2) the injection will be resisted by the high arterial pressure , you may feel slightly throw away of the injection but in some cases or tests injection is taken in artery
One such test done using the artery is the blood gas test. I probably don't need to explain it, just rest assured that it HURTS LIKE HELL.

Please explain your answer. Best wishes, Jackson
Please explain your above statement in red. Thanks
What's the major difference between the blood flowing through arteries and veins? Oxygenation, yes? We take blood from the artery for the blood gas test because we can test this blood for it's oxygen saturation i.e. how much oxygen there is per ml, to get an idea of how much oxygen is getting to the tissues or how efficient the lungs are.
Of course, while we're there we can test for CO2 and other forms in the plasma etc. Is that ok? "What are humans if they don't learn at University? Animals, yes."
