I came across a question in a local competition,do you have any idea about this?

"What is the term for a living thing to get poisoned by poisonous product that another living thing released to the environment?"

I think what the question is asking is for a noun to describe the process of one organism poisoning another without direct physical contact e.g. dinoflagellate bloom toxins.

Annoyingly, I think I should know a word to that effect but I can't recall it...

yeah exactly,but the thing is,they ask the term for "being poisoned" by the process you mentioned,not the term for "to poison" by this process...

Well once we have a good noun it's a simple enough job to inflect it with 'be' and we're there - still no luck on anything from me though
