Which sequence assembly program??There are so many...I just need to do simple contig alignments like AutoAssembler used to do, and I'm finding Bioedit to be cumbersome. Does anyone know of a program similar to AutoAssembler? Do I really have to buy Sequencher?
Have you tried to google, there are a score of free one available for download. I am using Lasergene 6, because it is standard issue in my lab, and am quite happy with it. Invitrogen's vector NTI is also available for free (although ordering is necessary) for non commercial applications for win and macs. But it is a complete program suite, more that what you are looking for.
Good luck Patrick

I've used sequencher and while it works, I think it's a crappy program overall, and they charge way too much. There's better alternatives.
