Does anybody know what a holistic view of ecology and community structure contains?

Finally! Someone posts a question in my area of expertise ^_^

What exactly do you want to know? The question is simple enough, but the answer would actually make a pretty good master's thesis. It's as complicated as rocket science--believe me, I've tried rocket science =D. Complicated stuff!
