TCA Precipitation

TCA Precipitiation of proteins

Used for concentration of proteins for subsequent gel electrophoresis.

• Add TCA (Trichloro acetic acid) to a final concentration of 10%
• Incubate on ice for 30 minutes
• Spin down precipitated material at 4 degrees at 20 000 x g for 30 minutes
• Remove supernatant
• Add 300 ul ice-cold acetone to wash and spin as above for 5 minutes
• Remove supernatant
• Air dry the pellet
• Resuspend in SDS-PAGE loading buffer or other preffered buffer.
